- Yugoslavia was the most complicated of the new countries created by the Paris Peace Conference.
- It was formed by Serbia and its neighbours (most of them had been part of Austria-Hungary)
- It was named as the Kingdom of the Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, but in 1929 it changed its name to Yugoslavia (land of the South Slavs).
- Yugoslavia showed Wilson’s idea of self-determination.
- The Allies thought that a large and powerful state could be a stablishing influence in the Balkans.
