Problems

  • The representatives of Britain, France, Italy and the USA made decisions without consulting the leaders of the smaller nations affected.
  • This made people in Eastern Europe get angry.
  • People  found themselves separated from their families.
  • The did not share language  or culture.
  • Right from the beginning there was tension and even violence.
  • In 1920 Hungary lost two-thirds of its territory. The land was given to Yugoslavia, Romania and Czechoslovakia.
  • The governments of these three countries formed an alliance to protect themselves from the threat of a Hungarian invasion. This became known as the Little Entente.
